time to think ahead: day nine
Monday, January 25, 2010 at 06:35PM hiya!
wowsahs, it’s day nine!! WOOT!! and…you’re back for more after yesterday’s brain dump? LOL!!
welp, part of today was hard. i got in a “food mood.” lol! in today’s case, that meant i was pretty much wandering zombie-like in and out of the kitchen, wanting a snack like some crackers and cheese, or chocolate chips and pb! i swear, what will it take to change my relationship with food?!?!
i got thru it, tho it was very hard…i did a little stomping around and ended up distracting myself by playing with the pets! it worked, but at my 4th meal i should have had both soup and yogurt and i only had yogurt. i dont know, i guess it was my way to rebel. LOL!
okay…somewhat of another tangent here…but for fun i just now went back and read my day 9 post from my LAST cleanse in 2008. and what do you know…i mentioned “food moods” in that one, too! HAHAH!! i also noticed my day 6 post from then talked about me being grumpy. it hit me on day 5 this time. i’m starting to see a lot of patterns here :) and taking notes for when i do it in another 3 months! ;)
anyhoo, last night’s dindin was awesome. i had lightly baked wild-caught alaskan sockeye salmon with a salad (romaine, avocado, walnuts, seeds, lemon juice) and an ounce of raw milk cheddar cheese. OH and some carmelized onions. YUM-O!!! tonite i enjoyed cold salmon marinated in tamari, ginger and sesame oil. i’m threw on some thinly sliced onions, peanuts and pumpkin seeds on top of some romaine and it tasted great! a nice asian tang and a nice change.
i also got to start having yogurt yesterday. i made some from raw milk the day before. along with a cup of cleansing chicken soup, i had a half cup at the 3rd and 4th meal with about a half tablespoon of raw honey. it was very good!
last time i did this cleanse, i had store-bought pasteurized kefir (it’s basically a liquidy yogurt) and it gave me the WORST stomach cramps and gas! it was so bad i ended up cutting it out the next day and just had raw milk cheese instead. i was afraid the dairy might have the same effect this time, but was hoping since the milk i used for the yogurt wasnt pasteurized that my body would have no problems digesting it.
well…drum roll…
no GAS! LOL! ;)
that’s super good news :) just one more reason why i am so happy and fortunate to have access to raw milk!!
so now that there’s only one day left of the cleanse (YEEHAW!), it’s time for me to figure out what’s next. altho this cleanse was NOT for weight loss, obviously i did lose some weight. as of today i’ve lost almost 8lb!! i’m sure a few pounds of it will come back on as i eat more calories again, but my goal is to continue eating as cleanly as possible.
i want to use the rest of this week as a transition back to eating whole grains and other meats and proteins, since i havent had ANY grains in over 10 days and the proteins i have been eating have been very limited.
and just as importantly, i need to be exercising more. the last few days i started adding a 20-minute yoga routine to my quiet time. it feels awesome! i also ordered a new dvd that will fit perfectly into that plan—A.M. Yoga for Your Week with Rodney Yee. it’s five 20-minute morning yoga workouts! ive done some of his other vids and enjoy his style, so i’m anxious for it to arrive so i can get started.
in addition to the morning yoga, i am going to get back on track (TOMORROW!) by following a workout calendar i had made for myself at the beginning of the year. it goes through the first week of february, so at that point i’ll reevaluate and decide if i need a new routine. i may just keep it throughout the rest of the winter until it’s warm enough out to go for nice, long walks and bike rides :)
so as this cleanse comes to a close tomorrow *jumps up and down like a total nut*, i will report that i AM feeling more energetic AND i think i look better physically all around. ive notice my lower abdomen looks much less bloated and the bags under my eyes are gone! ive slept like a rock for the last several nights, too. YAY. i definitely have a much better attitude, my mind is clearer and i’m very hopeful that more good things are to come :)
all that is, of course, in addition to knowing i’ve done something good for my insides! i’m more than positive that this detox will aid me in reaching many of my goals this year!
thanks for tuning in. have a good nite and see ya tomorrow for the finale!
